" 'Music,' said Arkady,
'is a memory bank for finding
ones' way about the world.' "
Bruce Chatwin, Songlines.

"Aboriginal Creation myths tell of the legendary totemic beings who had wandered over the continent in the Dreamtime, singing out the name of everything that crossed their path-- birds, animals, plants, rocks, waterhold--and so singing the world into existence."

Described in this way by traveler writer Bruce Chatwin, this is one of the ancient technologies of memory preservation and deep ecological relation with the environment.

We are inspired in this Australia's ancient culture of the so-called “Songlines” that trace the journeys of ancestral spirits as they created the land, animals and lore. 'Songlines are known as navigational tracks, in that the elders or the trained Indigenous people will sing the landscape and therefore be able to move from location to location through it, and teach each other,' says Monash University researcher Lynne Kelly.
This project plays with this idea of a rhythmical relation within the territory, giving the player the possibility of experimenting with a track of music and creation that can narrate their very own journey in this landscape, enlighten with their steps and making maps of multispecies relations.
Playable experience of a sound installation based on this fascinating ancient practice, Way of Lore wants to be a practice of sound fictioning to make us experience the posthuman idea of worlding.
